I am currently pursuing my PhD, so I don’t have much in the way of a 9-5, but I do miss the coffee! At UC Irvine I am a graduate researcher, and I occasionally take on a few freelance project through my studio, YellowKiwis, but only if they are particularly awesome.

Senior Systems Developer, MCAT, Front-end and UX focus (2006 – 2009)

As part of the Medical Colleges Admissions Test (MCAT), designed, implemented and maintained large scale enterprise applications. In 2006, the MCAT moved from its paper format to a computer based format, requiring a new system for all aspects of test administration.

Oversaw all web projects and marketing, managing programmers and design staff. Worked with and advised the CEO and VP of Operations on development and marketing strategy. Websites used PHP and trafficked 400K – 800K sessions and 12M-15M hits per month, integrating with a MySQL databases with over 25M records.

Freelance Web Designer (2001 – 2004)

Developed and managed projects to fit client needs, designing and promoting complex websites with an emphasis on identity and web presence redesign. Projects included ArtsBridge America (National), ArtsBridge America (Utah & Hawaii Chapters), da Vinci Research Institute, The University of California – Irvine Center for Learning through the Arts.

Principal Investigator (2002 – 2004)

Era was designed as internet based software intended to streamline research transcription, coding and rating through video integration. Managed 4 research assistants, training and assigning technically related tasks. Research activities were sponsored by the Functional Family Therapy Project, a NIDA/NIH funded project.
• Developed “Time Lapse Transcription” technique, increasing research accuracy and decreasing transcription time by 80%.
• Presented work at four national conferences.

Proposed and executed a marketing plan to bring additional attention to the department through an identity redesign. Plan included a website redesign and print materials used for inter-departmental interactions.

Managed press relations. Maintained festival’s Novel network, provided client troubleshooting and technical consultation. Created and managed marketing projects for festival graphic/written advertisements, brochures, internet identity and related marketing.
